Appenzeller Spitzhauben roo or hen

I know the pics aren't great but this bird is a little skittish. It is 6 months old and I know nothing about Appenzellers. Thanks in advance for your help.


Well, since it was unanimous a rooster I'm pulling the pics to make room for more. Maybe a GFM would ease my pain.

Definitely a rooster. The pullets and hens never get that big of a hairdo. He has a great forward pointing crest too

I agree, I have three pretty little hens and two of them lay almost every day. I have posted a want for hatching eggs on the Wanted board but nothing so far. One of my hens has really nice spangling but the other two are rather poor. Need to hatch a good roo.

whoa... that's a crazy lookin bird.. i've never seen those...
and before you ask.. hubby siad no without even turning to look... lol.. i still haven't asked him about the otehrs we were discussing...
