There are probiotics in most chicken feeds already, read the fine print on ingredients. Fermented foods are different than 'fermented' water.I am a believer in probiotics which are in fermented foods like natural acv and yogurt (which is often recommended on here for various reasons for chickens) among tons of other foods we eat like sauerkraut and kimchee.
#1 is keep it in the shade, my chicken waterer is in the coop and never gets algae, it's also a closed jug nipple waterer so no floating in the air organisms can get in. #2 wash it regularly and well with a bottle brush and rinse with mild bleach solution(10%)....how often to do that will depend on individuals scenarios, observe and adjust.Could you share these other ways?
