I've heard of using the ACV to keep algae down, didn't know about the other benefits.

The mother is the "mother of vinegar," which is basically the coagulated looking substance or unfiltered "collection" of something in some ACVs. I think most organic or health food brands label the ACV as Mother ACV or include it on their labels somewhere. Hope that helps I don't really know too much about it.
