apple cider vinegar

I will but they seem like they have drunk a lot of it for 2 days. But they also look like it is starting to give them diarrhea. I'll give them plan water for a day or 2 then try it the right way. Thank all yall for the help. On the plus side I went from 1 egg every other day to 3 eggs a day and they are coming out clean like they were already washed.

Hello , I am a new chicken owner and was told to use Apple Cider Vinegar in my waterer , I need to know if it has to be Braggs unpasteurized or not ?? As Braggs is very costly so I'm wondering if I can use store brand acv ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and happy chicken farming

Braggs has the "mother" in it which is the beneficial piece of using apple cider vinegar. You want this good bacteria from it to compete with bad bacteria in your chickens' digestive tracts. It also sets up a nice body chemistry. There are other brands available s companies are joining the band wagon. Heinz makes it and harmony farms brand. Pasteurized has no beneficial bacteria. BUT you can buy a big bottle of it and add a splash of your smaller bottle with the mother and inoculate it with the good bacteria. Thereby creating a cheaper source for future use.

Also a hint or warning that if used in a metal or galvanized steel drinking fount it will break down the zinc and rust quickly with the ACV which will make your chickens sick. Use plastic founts when adding ACV to your chickens water.

I only use plastic feeders and waterer don't care for the galvanized or aluminum plastic only for feed and water . Thank you !!!

I get mine at The Vitamin Shoppe when they are on sale buy one get one free. They are the real deal with "mother"

Quote: I came across this internet post and would love to get some feedback. It basically says just use fresh water, leave out the ACV and explains why. Seems to contradict the growing list of advocates. Confused, and don't know what to do. I do know that just plain water is safe and has been dependable for ever.

What do you think?

Mine love the ACV. When it gets really hot here in AR , this will also keep them hydrated. Yes, my eggs are clean, and their poops are really nice and healthy. I do not give every day, but almost. My ducks and pullets love it too ..anything for my flock to keep them healthy.
