Appleyard Duck Eggs in the Bator - 1 is out!

It's nasty here...flooding....hoping the pip zips.....

It is cold too! Brrrr!

Just a bigger pip this morning. I can see the pip moving as the duckling breaths but I can't see the beak or anything yet. These ducklings aren't due until Wednesday so he may just be an early pipper and slow hatcher.

My humidity is at fluxing from 81% to 87%. Temps are at 100.0 and holding.

Come on little duck. I want to see you!

This morning the pip was still tiny. I had a few errands to run. When we got back we looked in the bator ASAP.

I did a double take and realized the egg was empty. Looking in the corners we found it -

A duck! A shy little duck hiding from us.

Mothergoose, is the 2 dark stripes indicative of a female?

I noticed since this egg hatched the temp fell 1 degree. Hmmm.

I think the other 2 eggs are gonners. This little duck needs a buddy so lets hope this second egg hatches.
