I requested membership to Chicken Talk Omaha 5 days ago and so far I think the person who owns the page has not seen my request. I will keep waiting!

My friend just got her permit in the mail yesterday. She said the health dept didn't come out or even call her. She is so excited. Guess I'll have to go down and apply today.

Wow, that is good news!

You can apply without going anywhere. Get the application from the Health Dept. website. Print it off and mail it. Sometimes a rep will drive by to look at your property without telling you, so my guess is that someone did look at your friend's property and she just wasn't home at the time.

Went down to the Douglas Co. Health Dept. today and applied for my permit.......keep fingers crossed.

Well.....the day after I applied, I got a couple of messages on my phone from "Randy" saying he stopped by and had a couple of questions for me, re: the 2 sheds I had in my backyard (?????). I called back and left a message that I had one shed that I made into a coop and then a small coop that was for sale but if he needed to come back I would be home by 2pm. Then I noticed the that he had left a second message a couple minutes after leaving the first and said, "Disregard the first message, I was at the wrong address"....I haven't heard anything from him since. Should I assume since he must have had my application in hand, that he did come out that day and see my property?

Ugh, nothing like that kind of message. Last fall I got a notice from the city that I would be fined $200 if I did not remove the weeds from my property. We had a large garden, that cannot be seen from the alley or street! I immediately called the inspector and asked him why he would think my veggie garden was weeds??? He hastily said obviously he had the wrong address as he drives the alley ways and sometimes get the address wrong. WTH?
