April 1 chicks @ 17weeks UPDATED 7/31 - PIC HEAVY.

Thanks Hondo, that helped a lot. Only problem is, I thought I knew what I wanted as far as breeds go... Now after seeing your birds, I have to rethink it lol. Please keep the updates coming. I cant wait to see what they look like next time.

Hi Hondo!

Your birds are just beautiful

Geez, they don't look at all like that did when they were very small. That's the best thing about "mutts". You never know what you'll get.

Here are pictures of my chicks which are one week behind yours......

The below chick is a cross with a polish and someone else! He/she has little feathers sticking out of the top of his/her head!

The chick closer is a cross between a barred rock and polish. He/she that same little cluster of feathers on her/his head.

None of the attachments came through.

Really? I can see them as I open up your post.

Rebeloutlaw29 told me the same thing.

These are pictures I've copied and pasted from an email to myself (so I could post them) using AOL. I know I can't subscripe because I use AOL. Maybe this is the same problem.

I have a momma with just one chick. I was just wondering do you worry about the chick having no chickie friends as I do? Do you let her free range with the flock? Sorry to bombard you with questions.

The chick and Elkie free range together while the rooster and other hens stick together. I had the 6 week old chicks out in their playpen when Elkie and the chick wandered over to see them. I opened the door and they walked right in. Three of those chicks are actually Elkie's own chicks. They all seemed OK with no issues. I think Elkie was feeling good about finally being the biggest chicken in the group.

You can see them because the link is to your email with the images. You would need to save them to your computer and then use the insert image button to insert them into the post for us to see them.

Ok, I'm trying this again. I saved the pictures to my computer (at work!)

The one that is half polish/half someone else with the little feathers sticking out of the top of his head!

These guys are half barred rock and half polish because they have the feathers on their head too!
