April 15th- New Brinsea Owner Hatch Along

The room I have them in is kinda hard to get real dark and I don't want to haul them all over. I have 4 Maran eggs that are pretty dark and the other 15 are EE's and their shells are rock hard so I hope I can seem through them!!! Even more so I hope the chickies can break through!!

Good luck with the hatches. I just ordered a octagon 20 advance and ovaview candler. It is suppose to arrive on the 21st. I'm gonna keep an eye on you guys and see how you're all doing. I have some buckeyes and buckeye/java cross in the brooder now that are 2 weeks old, that my friend hatched for me from my eggs. Don't know how soon I'll try the new bator out? Hope you all have a great first go at it. I was suprised that the advance was on sale for the same price of the eco. Figured I could afford the candler then.

No. When I put my Brinsea lid back on....It took a matter of mins for it to return to between 99.5-99.7. You may need to adjust your temp.

Came home from school today and the temp. was back up! Right at 99.7. I am getting really anxious for them to start hatching. I walk over to look at it to see if everything is okay, about every 15 minutes. I'm not getting any homework done! You guys are lucky you only have to wait 21 day, have to add another week for mine. I am trying to post some pics, but can't get them to upload. When I can get them to I will.
Happy Hatching to all!!

I am on day 9 with my ECO 20. I have some Marans eggs. I cant see much through them. I am going to try getting a stronger flash light.
My manuel sayes to keep the humidity between 40-50%. Is that too high????

From what daisychick told me you want it at 25-30% and then hike it up at lockdown. You want them to lose moisture at first so the airsac develops. At lockdown you want it closer to 65% is what she told me. hth!

My humidity is usually around that 41-44%. The peachicks have a scheduled arrival time at May 15.
Okay I got the picture uploaded...Finally. My autoturn cradle "creaks" when it turns, is that normal?
Here it is:

I set them last night. You should be fine with a 44% humidity, I am no expert but 40-50% is usually what I hear everybody has. They are actually Peafowl eggs. This will be my second year of hatching them. Last year I didn't have a very good turnout, 8 chicks hatched out of around 20 eggs or so. Hope this year is better with my new incubator.
Anybody have an answer to the creaking question? (In my previous post)

No I don't think so. Everyone has a different opinion on it. Best bet would be to pull one at about a week and candle it and see if airsac is developing. You should have gotten a little diagram with your Brinsea that shows where it should be at certain days.
