April 1st. setting.. *hatching*| need a buddy.

Lockdown!!!

I made a little tent out of the comforter and candled under there. LOL .... Of my 9 mutt chickens, all 9 have movement and i can even see a couple feet!

Of the 16 Marans eggs, only 6 of them have a chance of hatching. 6 never developed, 1 definite blood ring, 3 quitters.

They were shipped eggs though. The seller wanted me to keep him postd on how many hatch because the eggs might have froze on the way here. And I told the seller that since none of them stunk, i would give all of them the full 21 days or so. Then crack them open and see where they got to.

Duck was out this morning. I think it is going to be fawn and white like its mom. Chickens are still rolling. No pips yet.

Well I have made it all afternoon without looking at the incubator! Can you believe it?!?! LOL

Im excited. I hope I have chicks hatching before the weekend!!!

Since most of my marans eggs didnt develop, I was able to get a 2nd chance to buy on ebay. So I got 24+ black copper marans for $35! and free shipping! So I jumped on it.
It is from a different seller, so maybe the fertility, shipping, hatch rates will be better.

Nothing here either. Just checked the bator for the 1st time since lockdown this afternoon. Humidity is about 72% and temps are steady.

Just time for the waiting game....

Nothing to report here either. My humidity is sticking around 35% which makes no sense since it was 40% before Lockdown. Any suggestions?

That is great about the replacement eggs on eBay!

I went into lock down last night, might have been a little late but I wanted to wait till dark so I could candle one more time before lockdown. I only candled 3 time theough the whole time. My 3 mutt eggs from my flock all have movement, the rest are shipped EE eggs, I pulled 5 of them that were clear or very early quiters. So I have 19 in lockdown. The EE eggs are so hard to see, I may have had a few more that I could have pulled, but no stinkers so I just left them in just in case. I'm having a hard time getting my humitiy above 55% and I did a dry hatch keeping humitiy about 30-35% untill last night. I'll ty adding a little more water through the vent hole today to see if I can at least get up to 60%. I'm pretty sure my muts will hatch, they are either Buff Orp or GSL, with my B Aust. roo. But I really, really want some of the EE's to hatch. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for nice healthy chicks.
Good luck everyone.
