I'm so sorry. It always has to be that way though doesnt it? Incubator full of deff and maybe and the deff falls. How many do you have left? I worry about dropping them while I candle because I take two out at a time. It shortens how many times I have to open and close the lid plus with only two eggs its not enough time to get cold either. I am going to candle in about an hour!!!

Bummer about the egg breaking! That sucks!

I got an email today from a craigslist ad I posted. A lady wants to buy 10 of my chicks! 5 marans and 5 of my barnyard mix. Hopefully that many hatch!

Also, since i have those 2 other incubators to test out, i bid on and won another auction on ebay for 15+ dominique eggs. so im gonna try those with some more of my own mutt eggs.

I will probably candle again tonight too.

I have 10 out of 14 welsummer eggs that I see movement in. It used to be 11. I have 1 out of 2 EE eggs that I definitely see movement and growth in. So, 11 eggs total when I started out with 16. Not too bad. I just hate making a stupid mistake like I did.

Glad to see you guys have more eggs coming. This is a borrowed incubator so it is a one shot deal for me. I do not even know the people I borrowed it from!

How did the candling go Art? I do one at a time.

I am now down to 10 Eggs

I started with 26 yesterday I was down to 16 and tonight I had 6 move with either no movement or no growth. 3 were in fact empty. two were blood rings and one was infertile. The other 3 were quiters. When I broke them open two you could tell had stopped growing a long time ago and were stuck to the fat end of the egg where the air sac was. The last one I am not sure about. It was twice the size of the other two but was not living and was also stuck to the top of the egg. Had really huge eyes.

And then there were 10. Of my 10 there was babies dancing in all but 2.

I guess we'll see at hatch time. I probably should get rid of the ones that I think are bad, but that is just it.. today when I candled I discovered 2 that had movement that I didn't see before, so I am not throwing away any at this time.

I hope your 10 make it Art!

OK just candled. Of my 9 barnyard mutts, all 9 are developed and have movement.

Of the 16 marans, I believe I have 1 blood ring, 6 non-developed, and 8 or 9 that look like they are doing ok, but are too dark to know for sure.

And here is one of the maran eggs that showed development and was light enough to take a picture of.

I cant see anything in your photos, But my photos are never any better. Congrats on the 9 mutts!!! Is it just me, or do mutts always seem to hatch better? I had to toss a couple maran eggs for stopped development this evening.

I didnt toss any of them, i put them all back in the incubator. None of them smell funny, so I figure maybe they are just dark enough i cant see through them (wishful thinking).

I will keep an eye on them. I have only candled all of the eggs twice. the first time I just grabbed 2 or 3 eggs and checked them.

I will keep an eye on all of them and check for stinkers, and the ones that dont hatch at the end, i will break open to see what happened.
