nope, Mine are about 15 weeks
But my Sussex are most likely Colombian Wyandottes and my NH are probably just production reds LOL

Mine are 16 weeks old today. The leghorns are getting redder no squats yet. Just bought 3 dozen eggs which is about 10 days worth for us. Likey will be buying more-/:

4 Buff Orpingtons. 2 (supposedly) Black Arcaunas (they are likely EE), 1 little Banty. All came home as fuzzballs April 4, probably 2-3 days old then. Combs are little yet but getting redder, no squats, some indication of checking out nesting places. I'm not holding my breath.

mine were hatched 4/26 I got them the very next day mine are all dual purpose too I have 2 WR, 2 BA and 3 BO and a roosters I think it all depends on the breed and I think that my BA are going to be my first to lay

I am very curious to know the timing for when all these types will start to lay eggs. The one Isa has been laying daily for over a week now, and nobody else even seems close...

Onset of lay for most breeds averages between 18-26 weeks.
Sexlink and Leghorns may start earlier.
Marans may start later.

My chicks are 15 weeks old. All of their combs are starting to redden. I think my Welsummer is the reddest with my leghorn being a close second. When do we start offering oyster shell and layer feed? Also, do they instinctively know to lay in the nest boxes? Mine have been sleeping outside the coop due to the heat-should I start locking them back in the coop at night?

I'm offering oyster shell separately and grower feed to all of my chickens because it is a very mixed age flock.

My Aquila (hatched 4/1) now has large red wattles and is squatting. I had fun today looking back at the video we took of her hatching out of her gigantic dark brown egg. We thought when we put it in the incubator that it was too big and too old (laid 2/25) to ever turn into a viable bird. I can't wait to see the size and color of her first egg.

I've also got a bantam Delaware and a bantam cochin that are growing long red waddles and singing the egg-laying song, but I thought they were later-laying breeds. We got them on April 3rd and the feed store thought they were about a week old so they probably don't count anyway. Of all the chickens I've had, my golden sex link clearly laid the first egg earliest by several weeks.
