1 Ameraucana & 1 Barred Rock both hatched April 19

I know I don't stand a chance next to all the early Aprils, but it's fun to play!

Well don't tell them that these huge things are going to come out of their butts...
I added more nests to entice the pullets. (Do you think we need tiny fake eggs for bantams?)
I have 3 older hens who wouldn't approve of sharing nests. They are brown egg layers and all the newbies are white layers, so I'll know for sure when they start even if they do dare to use the hens' nests.

I have 8 pullets from late March and at least 5 of them are laying. Just by looking at them I can tell one isn't anywhere near ready but 6-7 of them I think will be laying in the next week maybe 2.

Mine are taking all the straw or sheddings out of the nest boxes.

I put a normal size in with my 3 bantams. They try to sit on it lol

None of my girls have started squatting although Pele (RIR) is doing a half squat & Kiwa (Ameraucana) is much snugglier than she was before.
No serious wattles on anyone yet.
What week could I start expecting them? Seems like week 17 is mentioned a lot...

I got 0/8 so far. But they hve alot of hiding places in the yard. Boo. Still excited.

Hubby was readin somethin on cluckers.... and this family when they got new birds... all of them lay the same color eggs. Different breeds but same egg colr. To make it easier to tell which group isn't layin so good anymore. That seems a darn tootin good idea!
