April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

I have an endless supply of dried pine needles (we have lots of forest)- can I use these in the brooder, newspaper is hard to come by and I hate wood shavings. I have hay- but not straw. Pine needles would be my first choice to use, though...thoughts?
I’ve read a lot of positive articles about using pine needles. I would say go for it! Pine chips (not shavings) are also a good option especially to reduce wetness because it allows drainage and doesn’t break down as quickly. We just started using pine chips.

Looks like it!
How about this one? It’s actually a video but I couldn’t figure out how to post it so I took a screen shot of one frame. You can see movement up and down into the air cell.

That’s not a pip yet. That’s movement underneath the membrane pushing into the air cell area. Pip to follow soon!!!

Lots and lots of things look like a pip. But it is completely unmistakable once you see one. It’s a massive triangle inside the air cell that stretches the whole distance of the air cell.

Anybody know how to post a video without creating a Link to Instagram or another site? I have some strange movement in the air cell and would like some expert opinions.
You have to load it into YouTube and then post the link on here.

Movement in the air cell usually is the chick pushing up on the membrane to break through to the air cell or it's the chick already inside the air cell.

That's the chick pushing up on the membrane to break through to the air cell. It'll be internally pipped soon.

Day 21 but I set in the morning and counted that as day 1 so technically they’ve only been in there for 20 days as of this morning.
I don't count the first day I set the eggs because the eggs haven't been in for a full day. I usually set my eggs on a Tuesday and three weeks later on a Tuesday they hatch.
