April 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Any thoughts? This is the chick who I feel barely made it. Has a goopy spot above the vent near the tail. Still covered in some sticky stuff. Quiet but feisty with others and noisy alone, of course.

currently separated, but I’ve had one or two comfort chicks in here that have been put back into the brooder with the rest. And I’m now realizing I may be introducing something to everyone else..... 😑
How is this little one doing? Agree with @abpatchy to try and clean it. I am also not sure what it is in your photo. Does it appear to be open skin? Doubtful anything contagious, only concern would be the other chicks may pick on it. 🤔

My Ameraucana x Speckled Sussex eggs are on day 7 today. As of this morning’s candling, three look great. One was an obvious early quitter with a pronounced blood ring (first time I’ve conclusively IDed one of those), but that egg was very round - as opposed to oval - in shape and slightly thin-shelled, so I wasn’t surprised that it quit on me.

MY incubator for some reason the stc 1000 controller was off. Not sure why the controller turned off, maybe as long as 12 hours. The eggs were room temp about 65 degrees. This was about 3 days ago.
About 38 eggs went into lockdown yesterday. I might have messed the start date up. Maybe the eggs were just on the warmer side of incubator. Anyway have 3 hatched i see today. Hopefully more. I suppose I will lose some because incubator off and will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Another incubator due in about 17 days.

I really can't see what you are talking about. Have you tried washing it off? It could just be some egg white that was left over in the egg. If it is not sick or weak I would just put it with the others.

I tried rinsing it off last night, I wasn’t going anywhere. I decided not to play with it too much and try to leave it be. It was definitely weaker than what I am used to seeing, and compared to its sibling/hatch mates.

They are pipping

I’ve set 9 coturnix quail eggs. I should have more throughout the week. Just waiting for the quail to lay more. The ones in the incubator are set to hatch on 4/20.

I have a broody bantam sitting on 4 eggs and they should hatch in 19 days.

I candles the quail eggs yesterday and all have veins. Not sure about the chicken eggs yet because Mrs Tweedy has only been sitting for 2 days.
