We have the camera ready to watch the hatch!

So, I got a good flashlight for candling. It’s day 11. Out of 38 eggs, 28 are developing and surprisingly active inside that shell. It’s the first time I’ve had a really good candling experience. I was amazed at the movement and even saw a couple beaks! I left some of the ones in question just in case. I only pulled 2 that was a definite blood ring and a super clear egg.
It doesn’t get old seeing the movement. Always brings a flutter to my heart.

@LadiesAndJane how is paint egg?! I hatched out my shipped silkies today...it was weird I am so used to my silkies pipping early but these buggers held out on me until day 21!!! I was a nervous freaking wreck. I thought for sure they all drowned or got shrink wrapped.
BUT!

I had 14/16 that went on lockdown hatch !! So proud. I had 2 paint eggs (hopefully not a bad omen) out of I think....4 or 5 die during lockdown.

It kind of looked like they drowned or were underdeveloped and quit as they were floating in egg shell enough for me to see through egg and not need to crack. Veining looked off as well.

But I am happy with that hatch rate...if you don't count the 3 I didn't set at all its a 66% hatch rate from shipped eggs :wee

I have my pekin eggs still turning away...looks like we are 12/12 atm.

Congratulations! :wee
Fantastic hatch rate!
MUST SEE PHOTOS!🥰
Eko the paint egg is doing well!
In lockdown here day 19, some shadowing along the air cell, but I will not look again until Saturday.
Agree with the hatch days. Mine alway pip day 19 and hatch day 20. Shipped always take a bit longer.

Super excited, we're on day #10 and all 19 silkies are doing so well. Each little developing chick has great veins and lots of movement. Even the couple I wasn't sure on are growing perfectly.
Hatching your own eggs is the best, I'm wondering if all these little guys are going to hatch.
I did toss the three appenzeller eggs, as I expected none were fertile, but it's hard to be disappointed when in 11 days I may have an incubator full of little fluff balls.

Oh man! I know this is April hatch & not over but I’m so excited for Mays hatch now.

I managed to secure 2 dozen Ancona Duck eggs to be shipped to me on the 19th. This breed is hard to find in my province or even neighbouring provinces. Most of the breeders seem to be on the opposite end of the country (Canada) from me.

The flock my eggs are coming from have blue, chocolate & black Anconas.

I’m excited!
