It doesn’t get old seeing the movement. Always brings a flutter to my heart. So, I got a good flashlight for candling. It’s day 11. Out of 38 eggs, 28 are developing and surprisingly active inside that shell. It’s the first time I’ve had a really good candling experience. I was amazed at the movement and even saw a couple beaks! I left some of the ones in question just in case. I only pulled 2 that was a definite blood ring and a super clear egg.
No one told this newbie you could see them move in the shell! Scared the daylights out of me at first but now I’m obsessed with watching them!It doesn’t get old seeing the movement. Always brings a flutter to my heart.
Congratulations!@LadiesAndJane how is paint egg?! I hatched out my shipped silkies today...it was weird I am so used to my silkies pipping early but these buggers held out on me until day 21!!! I was a nervous freaking wreck. I thought for sure they all drowned or got shrink wrapped.
BUT!
I had 14/16 that went on lockdown hatch !! So proud. I had 2 paint eggs (hopefully not a bad omen) out of I think....4 or 5 die during lockdown.
It kind of looked like they drowned or were underdeveloped and quit as they were floating in egg shell enough for me to see through egg and not need to crack. Veining looked off as well.
But I am happy with that hatch rate...if you don't count the 3 I didn't set at all its a 66% hatch rate from shipped eggs
I have my pekin eggs still turning away...looks like we are 12/12 atm.
