Haha @The Cave I will only set 2 more cause if not I will endup with 5mth old chickens in the house again and yes I is hard lolI want to see lavender silkies, tell those eggs to get developing! How are air sacs looking?
Something tells me stopping at 4 will be hard if you're already on 2 hehe
It certainly reminds me of bottle feeding newborn kittens. Iām glad I took a break from that before I started this! It's almost like having a newborn baby!![]()
Yes I always go in cautious with my shipped eggs -_- it can be so disappointing. But Iāve had some make it through detached air cells and crazy incubator fluctuations! Silkies are determined little thingsWell, the eggs were delayed 3 extra days, so already at around 10 days old when I set them Monday afternoon. 6 of the 12 had completely detached air cells. Thankfully only 1 out the 6 that were lavender were. Rest are loose, but I am cautiously optimistic I will get a few to hatch anyway! I will wait to candle on Monday, so at DAY 7 to see if anything is developing. Crossing all possible body parts that they do!![]()
Due date is a super easy one April 28th haha. This will be my first time doing duck eggs. I am a little nervous. I saw a video that said day 10 to day 25 you take them out mist them with water and let them cool to 86 degrees before putting them back in. Does this sound good?! It was from White house on the hill youtube and he had a good hatch 9/9! So I will probably run with his method. That is, of course....IF I get development, I saw some dates on the eggs were from 10 days ago so I am not hopeful for all of them but some should develop.OMG thank you for sharing this. I hadn't even thought to check for fertility because my flock have all been getting snuggly daily and my roo and hens are all less than a year. But I did a full check on everyone's eggs today and they all have bullseyes. Excited!Jumping in as my silkie girls just started laying today after almost 7 weeks!
Checked for fertility as my little cockerel has his favorites.
This egg had a weird shape, so I didnāt feel too bad cracking it open.
Beautiful bullseye!
Going to start collecting and hope to set in about a week.
