Well done. You must be so proud for overcoming it.All resistant birds since the vaccinated breeding stock I bought. I read somewhere where they are debating whether resistance is passed on via the hen into the chick from the vaccination.
Last year I hatched Egyptian Fayoumi chicks from my breeding stock and have hatched two roosters from them and my barnyard cross stock that were also resistant. So far so good. I haven't had an obvious Marek's death in almost 5 years, cross fingers, knock on wood and cross myself three times and I'm not even Catholic.
I know Red Roof! They're a member of the breed club also, they got some of their foundation birds from the same person the breeder I got my eggs from got her foundation birds from, so our birds are going to be related after all! And yeah the eBay bid for eggs can get a bit wild from what I've seen. It's nice to see more people getting interested in the breed though!Oh okay, that's smart!I got my from Red Roof Hens in NC, I'm excited to see them, they should be black. The one that was potentially going to be self-blue didn't develop sadly. I watched an eBay bid last week for 9 watermaal eggs...started at $25 and finished at $187.50!! Too rich for my blood haha, so I am happy with my two hehe.
I hadn't heard of the Watermaal until you peeps started talking about them. What pretty little birds! Wonder if there are any available in Canada...I know Red Roof! Ahhh man!! Show her the price you could get for them!I've *barely* got her accepting my OEGB. I talked to her today about setting breeding pens/coops for specific breeds and she turned all nasty on me. I'm trying to convince her by telling her it's so we can be more self-sufficient, being able to sell chicks to pay for the food from the meat and egg birds. I got such a dirty look from her!
I placated her with one of the baby bunnies later.
