April 2023 Hatch-A-Long

I know it's a big investment, but I do recommend a whole-house generator that runs on propane or natural gas. We had ours installed several years ago, and I would NOT be without one anywhere I live, now. We live in a rural area so weather events often take down power lines and I've got too much at stake to lose power for very long. Plus I like my comforts. When power goes down, the generator automatically switches on within about 20 seconds, and I never leave my chair. When the power comes back up, it automatically switches off. Most companies offer payment plans; that's how we managed ours and paid it off within two years.
We do have a gas generator, but that means we have to have the gas here... lol

Heat in my trailer is propane, so that might be an option to look into. Thank you for the suggestion!

The first batch is now in the brooder! :-D Had to remove the brooder plate so I could see the babies 🥰 All that lavender and black floofiness! 😍

The second batch of 6 eggs has started hatching over night 😁 2 are out and the arrow is pointing at the zipping egg! I’m away and visiting my Mom so I have the camera set up so I can pester my husband about things hatching 😆 I made him go look at the egg to see if it was zipping hehe. Headed home today and can’t wait to hold them!! 🥰🥰🥰

so exciting! Not sure which is worse being away and having to look and watch on camera or being home and checking every 10 min waiting for a zip. LMAO!!!!!!!

Contact your propane company, or the manufacturer of the gas generator - see if they offer the correct orifice parts to convert it from gas to propane. We've done that with all of our gas appliances when we moved out here where there's only propane or electric.

That's chicken math, too, right? :lau
Good luck with all of them!
The one who had some on the verge of hatching now has 3 chicks out, one fluffed, two still drying. If i remember correctly, one had pipped in two different spots so we peeled some of the egg away and hopefully that'll help, and one other has pipped, and the other one i can't remember if i saw a pip yet. Day 20.

Anyone have any comments or know anything about the farm innovators 4250 (i think i got that number right) incubator? I just got it, and i did see good reviews on hatch rate, just heard not to fill it completely (it holds 41 eggs) as it will get overcrowded due to there being a high hatch rate. Not sure if this is true, anybody know about it?
I put a 1 year warranty on it case something isn't working. I plan on hatching silkie eggs in it soon (With the chicks being mixed silkies if they hatch) Along with my friends eggs (She has a hen who is blind in one eye, wants to hatch her eggs as its her fav hen)
