O i would love to do this i have 5 hens right know but have 6 more growing out. I also have silkes but i have them penned in a breeding pen to collect eggs to hatch or sell. Will that hurt me? All my other hens have the whole back yard but if they give me there eggs i let them go for the rest of the day.

I could get more as we love our chickys my 2 yr old DD has them all tamed to being carried. If they see the pic of my DD caring big red they would be sold lol. she is so cute.

Count me in - as a new BYC member and also interested in this program.

We have 11 hens laying around 6 doz eggs a week.
12x12 coop and 10x20 run, free ranging occasionally
(lost 9 out of 10 in the first batch to neighbor's dogs, so no more unsupervised free ranging)

Some have names already, will have the kids finish naming the rest

Interested in the rest of the details (washing, legal issues, etc.)

Thanks so much for your kind advice! I really think i wll just stay with the extra 20 hens i just bought. My kids are such a blessing, and they have already given up so much! When i left their daddy, we had to move in with my mother and granny, who live in a small trailer.Not even a double-wide, so you can imagine how cramped it is. The way I look at it, is every little bit helps, and I'm just thankful that BYC is making this new egg selling program available!

I have 14 laying hens right now 5 babies that should start laying around Sept. I am in the process of making them a new larger pen. I get between 8-10 eggs a day. I am also planning on adding a few more hens to my flock. all my hens have names the babies not yet waiting to see their personalities. I would really love to be part of this.

I may be interested, but can anyone tell me what "proper egg washing" means to this company?

We have 31 pullets who will be a year old in July and we get approximately 160-175 eggs a week. We have 16 Black Stars, 5 cuckoo Marans, and 10 EEs. They have an 8x12 coop and I'm not sure of the size of the run. . . but they free range anywhere from 4-10 hours a day, depending on the daylight and when we are home.

What a great idea/program!

We have 11 Red Star laying hens averaging 65 eggs a week.

Waiting in the ranks we have 10 laying hens we're raising. Six Silverlaced Wyandottes, One Goldenlaced Wyandottes, three Dark Brahmas, and two Black Comets.

This is great! Here are the details of my flock:

2 Barred Rocks (Rochelle and Daisy)
2 Buff Orphingtons (Goldie and Buffy)
2 Rhode Island Reds (Maude and Alice)
2 Red Sex Links(Red and Snippy)

They produce between 50 and 56 eggs a week. The girls free range around the house.

Who provides the egg cartons?
