This sounds great. We would love to praticipate. We have 28 pullets that should start laying in June or July and have 30 more laying by July or August. And we are working on naming them all anyways. Hope this is not a limited time offer.....

Hey! This sounds fabulous and just in time. We decided to get 25 more hens so we can sell eggs. We only have 5 right now and they are laying about 42 eggs in two weeks. Our chicks won't be laying until Fall, I imagine, but we will be ready then! We live in Tennessee. Looking forward to more info.....

I can't believe all the new members who have chimed in on this. Great idea Nifty and crew....

Count me in! We have 47 EE, plus brahmas, partridge rock, Marans, ameraucanas, cochins, columbian rock, Dominique and a few others. We get lots of eggs. Lots! About 65 hens in all. We have several 6 x 8 coops with protected runs and access to pasture.

I have 39 hens right now laying about 100 eggs a week (just starting back up after a LONG winter) and 75 chicks that are due to begin laying in August which should boost our weekly production by 17 dozen. My hens have a HUGE barn that we dubbed "The Poultry Palace" and they have 23 acre they are free to range as they please. I have names for most of the hens laying now but haven't started on the chicks yet. I will probably have to use ankle bands with numbers or names to tell some of them apart (I have 25 buff minorca chicks). I have a huge variety of breeds and have all 6 colors of eggs!

I have a friend with a flock of about 60 who also gets all six colors. We are the two main suppliers of farm eggs in our county. I have to add that my hens are raised entirely natural-no artificial light or heat.

I was wondering when we might hear more about this program. I am really interested in this. I have been telling everyone how great backyard chickens are. I am also planning on getting ducks. I live in town so I do have a real backyard flock. Does it matter if we have a rooster or not. I do that is why I am asking and will they give us the information on how to wash an store and also who provides the egg cartons. I can't wait to hear more I am so excited. This is what I have been looking for to help with the upkeep of my hobby. I am only missing blue. green, dark brown eggs need to get those colors and i will be so happy.

Oh now, that's fantastic! We're overrun with eggs up here; recently donated a bunch to a local food bank. Between our two locales, we're producing almost 3 dozen a day already, so that would be over 16 dozen per week (pessimistic guess) with around 5 dozen of those being blue or green eggs. Lots of the older folks love the colored eggs. We've even had a purple egg ever so often.

At the Farm, Wyoming and the leghorns and the barred rocks free range, while the Australorps sleep in the main section of the chicken house and have a fenced and covered run. My Silkies and EEs are housed in three chicken tractors and one small coop/run. The chicken tractors are 4 ft by 8 ft, with a 2 ft by 4 ft covered area, and hold 3-4 chickens each. The coop is 4ft by 4 ft and has a 4 ft by 8 ft run; it holds 8 Silkies.

Flock details for hens:

4 Silkie-X hens (Queenie, Shy, Trapeze, Splash)
14 EE hens (Hawk, Eagle, Fraidy Cat, Puffball, Country Girl... I'll find the names of the ones from the Farm later)
1 Columbian Wyandotte named Wyoming
10 White Leghorns (at the Farm, names later)
5 Barred Rocks (at the Farm, names later)
4 Black Australorps (at the Farm, names later)
