APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

MS....GOOD LUCK!! :yiipchick
,

Thanks!

Just got in from work, I ran into the spare room to start penciling X's and O's on the eggs but the girlfriend told me to 'stop playing chickens' until after tea, such a killjoy.

I had a hatch in April that resulted in only one chick, so I was kind of apprehensive about hatching again. But, I did, only used eggs that had not been shipped this time.

So far, I have 5 pipped and one out. Woo Hoo! Another one has a hole through the shell and it's hatch mate is helping to make that hole bigger.

One of the pips looks like it is on the side of the egg, but I'm sitting on my hands. I know I'll need to take some shell and/or chicks out since it's a mini advance and these are HUGE chicks, but I'm waiting as long as I can.

So fun!

Been up to my elbows all morning in chick hatching drama.  I'm in shrink wrap city!!!!  Taking a quick break, I have 5 now I know will make it, 7 died before I opened them, 1 so far died after assist, but was in breach position couldn't locate the beak in time to save it.

Oh no, :hugs
Assisting a hatch takes a lot of energy. Makes me give more respect the chicks that actually do it on their own & survive. You must be exhausted!

Great pics, love the macros! Such cuties <3

Aaaand they are in the incubator! I wish it was like a microwave, pop them in, press a button and wait 30 seconds for your new chicks.

I've been going solid since 8 this morning w/ only a few breaks when the chicks needed it and me. The pace is much slower now, this morning the pace was fast trying to get eggs open before death allowing others to sit partially open and going back to do a little more. Setting up a place for the energetic so they didn't trample the not so energetic. Drying and fluffing the really good ones.

I still have 9 or 10 in icu, of those several are definitely not going to make it, one almost surely isn't, but has genetics I have been working on for 2 years so I am going against my hard core survival of the fittest and going to do heroic measures to try and save him, but it is most surely an exercise in futility. I think I have about 10 in the make shift hatcher now, most are strong considering, there are 2 I'm still guarded about.
