. I, on the other hand, should have put on my readers before I checked the calender!

I set them on the 12th

guess a hatch date of April Fool's day is appropriate!

can I get in too. I have goose eggs due on the 10th of April. I have 6 under a broody goose and 14 in the bator. They are all due at the same time. I would love to candle the ones under the goose, but don't think that will happen. I took a small bowl of food to her today.. she is on day 7 and I really don't think she has eaten. She drank today for about the first time. Anyway, I had the bowl and was going to set it on the edge of the tire that she is nesting in and she attacked the bowl.... literally attacked it. Broke it, the food went EVERYWHERE and I got the heck out.. Out of the 14 in the bator, it looks like 8 or 9 are developing.

Hello everyone!

I'm fully addicted to hatching, this will be my 3rd run. The first went very well, the second, not so much. I feel really good about this one!

On Friday March 12th, I set 20 mille fleur cochin bantams I bought from wwmicasa1(Lynne) and 17 sebrights(gold, silver &buff) in my Brinsea Octagon Adv. Hatching April 2nd, a Good Friday indeed!

How did I fit all those in there, you ask? Pure luck! I had to remove all the separators between the eggs and play a bit of Egg Tetris but I did it! Whew!

I don't know what I would have done if I'd ended up with an extra egg. Get another incubator maybe??? Then I'd have to get more eggs to fill all that space and... well, you know how it goes.

Boy do I have problems, at least I know I'm not alone!

I set 13 Serama eggs on the 18th in the evening. I am expecting hatching to be April 8th or 9th but was told Seramas like to hatch early.

I am in!

there are
3 Light Brahma x EE
6 Pure Light Brahma
9 Light Brahma x Barred Rock
4 Light Brahma x NHR
8 Light Brahma x Black Sex Link

There are a few already spoken for, the rest will be for my projects & laying flock.

This will be my last hatch until Spring (warmer weather) actually arrives!

Just thought I'd check in here quitely before going to sleep, but now I expect to have a very interesting night of funny chicken dreams after reading these posts. Some funny stuff going on out there, I'm cracking up here with laughter.

PandoraTaylor: Good to see you're in again with a "gaggle" of eggs.

April is going to be wild with all kinds of chicks, ducks, turkeys & geese being set already. Then there is:

Madcap621 with here "traveling-hatch" due on April Fool's Day.
Paradise Poultry that I am picturing standing on a corner with a sign saying, "Will Hatch For Food." How fun!
ScratchesWithChickens with the stuffed Brinsea due on Good Friday.

What next!! Yes, & I quote, "Tis the season."

Here's my "side-car Sally" that I rigged up for a Feb hatch, after realizing that I had run out of incubators for 1 last special egg due to lockdown 3 days after the incubator lockdown for the prior group was started. With the "side-car" I was able to turn/flip left to right the single egg without opening the lid; it hatched, but not easily. Maybe too much humidity, having to go thru the prior hatches "lockdown" before it's own "lockdown." The "side-car" is now retired, what a "brainstorm" that was. Almost forgot to mention that this was all "brought on" when I got so excited to catch that one special hen in the nest box when I opened the outside nest door. I thought she was going broody, so when I reached under to take the egg away, she stood up & layed one in my hand. I was a little stunned, then realized that this was a egg that I really wanted to hatch (being from her in particular). So, the idea started there.

I'm planning on a sweet, 'lil no-weirdness incubation & hatch in April sometime, when the eggs are shipped. We'll see about that!! Good night...........

We just started our first hatching!!! Should be here around April 10th. My girls are so excited, I hope I can keep them from going crazy while waiting.

I don't know which eggs came from which hens, but there are 35 eggs in the 'bator, and there are more we threw out because they were cracked.

We have a Mille Fleur rooster, 1 Mille Fleur hen and 2 Golden Seabright hens. So I don't know what we will get.

Looking into getting some more Mille Fleur fertile eggs, and maybe some silkies from a local on craigslist.

As its our first hatching (well, we hatched a few at the college I used to work at, but these are mine), I am not expecting too much. I figure it is a learning experience. We will keep trying 'till we get it right.

I have eggs coming this week and plan to set them next Friday. Today I am setting up the incubator and getting it ready. Eggs will be hatching the third week in April.
Meanwhile, the roos in the little coop have to be dispatched to freezer camp, so I can set up the coop for brooding.
