Well the 21 eggs in the incubator became 22 as the 15 eggs for our local farmer only had 1 start ! now on day 13 and waiting to see what happens, i seem to get a little worried they may not hatch !! tho last time i got 16 out of 20. i felt i could not have an empty incubator sitting on the side so i have started off another 20 on monday - i am addicted now. my first ever hatch are now nearly 7 weeks and loving their outdoor world

YaY...

* Still no chickies... I'm taking that as a good sign since they really arent due til tomorrow, but I'm thinking some will hatch today, I always have earlier hatchers it seems. There are ALOT of rockers (its so cute to see the eggs rock), so thats a good sign too. My Feb. and March hatches have both been 19 chicks, I'm hoping for a better hatch this month, it would be wonderful if all 40 hatched, I'm learning more with each hatch and from really everything you all write

I did not candle as much and I've tried keeping the temp. at 99 and I will not open the bator til the hatch is over.

Got a note from the electric company that our power will be cut today for two hours. Any thoughts on how to keep the temp up. At least they are not on lock down, phew! they are only on day 12.
Should I worry, wrap the incubator in a blanket?
I can't think straight today, been on foal watch with my pony and I am very sleep deprived. Any ideas it is a suro 20 and I can't see it holding heat for very long on its own.
thanks

I had 18 our of 22 eggs that made it to lock down hatch, I have one that has a bad leg, so not sure about them, and 5 that got shrink wrapped that I had to help out, and they are all squawking in the bator while the other 13 are in the brooder:jumpy
I opened all of the eggs that did not make it, and 2 fizzled out somewhere between day 10 and yesterday, and 1 was alive, but lost its insides immediately, and the other one just died. So all in all it has been a good hatch. I have BW, those I can sex, looks pretty balanced out between males and females, on the RBW don't know if they can be sexed. and none of the CW made it.

What a cuddlely looking group, they're great! Congrats! Tell me about the water bottle with the tassle, is that where they drink from?

Yes, the sippy-cup with the water-nipple is where they drink. I have the up-side-down bowl under it so that the tiny Dutch bantams can reach. The "tassle" is actually "Momma's" orange foot in the background

- I hadn't realized it was the same color orange as the water nipple! I LOVE the nipple waterers! The babies take right to them and the water stays clean!

I love my Chicks but am a bit dissappointed in the hatch rate. Of 11 doz eggs, only 30 made it to lockdown & 17 of those are still just sitting there [day 23]. Of course, we were/are testing for fertility. I had 2 that pipped outside the air-cell and drowned. One of them was a Maylay

The Marans are supposed to hatch today. So far, nothing

The Aussies and Golden comets that were in the bator that went haywire the last week [temp swings from 90 to 106

HAVE actually started to hatch. I expected nothing!! Just goes to show.

ELEVEN chicks safely out as of right now! The eleventh chick just safely hatched! Two more are almost fully zipped, and eight more have pips of varying sizes. This is so fun!

It's a total chick party in the incubator!

They're climbing all over the place and falling asleep in funny/cute positions and peeping!

Sending out some of the awesome hatching vibes you guys sent me to all of you who are still waiting! I hope you all have this successful of hatches--I'm so pleased! After several unsuccessful hatches, it feels awesome to have an incubator full of fluffy butts! And yes, I'll post pictures--I'm just waiting for even more to hatch.

I've got 18 pips right now and 1 zipper! Go

Go! The zipper is a lil bantam egg from my hen Goldie, might be the 1st one out
