April Hatch Along

Pics
I just set 16 B/B/S Australorp eggs from my own flock in my incubator at 4:30 PM yesterday. I'm trying out that dry hatch method this time in my styrofoam Little Giant still air incubator. The hatch is due on May 3rd.

Good luck!

Hi everyone. I'm so happy to see chicks and poults popping out. I'm sad for the losses. It's hard to keep up.

I purchased some brooder supplies today. I should be ready for hatch day next week.

23 turkey chicks in the brooder. SO CUTE. 3 more in the incubator. 26 or more of of 39 turkey eggs, seems pretty good for my rates.

Congrats on the poults! They're cuter than I thought turkey poults were tbh

I have now had to pull 2 Biele eggs for oozing orange gunk. :( I had a bad feeling all along that these eggs actually got SHAKEN at the PO. Another Cochin zipping and my own 4 BR eggs I added...1 pipping, 3 shaking and wiggling. So everything but the Bieles showing progress. I'm not giving up yet...just ranting. No idea how you deal with a NASTY postmaster. :( Anybody have a clue? I have goslings coming next week and now I fear for their LIFE. 3 Cochins hatched, 3 pipping...
I have read that hatching eggs can be insured, and things like detached air cells is damage worthy of a claim. The article was in the learning center somewhere.

Awe! Look at those cuties! Congrats.

Congrats! :ya. I have 7 Cochin chicks and one more pipping. :) Bieles? Still 0...no sign of anything. :(

Keep in mind...Cochin eggs and Biele eggs arrived within minutes of each other at the PO...I saw who handled which box. The girl who handled the Cochins had them sitting nicely on the front counter for pickup. The POSTMASTER had tossed the Biele eggs in back ....with a huge neon note on box for "call for pickup" . Not total proof but what would a reasonable person suspect? The Biele eggs had a FRESHLY broken egg...hadn't even had time to run into the packing and was wet, not dry or sticky. :(

Just ranting folks... just ranting....

This was in my hatcher this morning for easter hal.

Will move them to brooder tonight when I get off work. And get a total count

Its probably not the postmaster. The drivers are the ones that are poo-heads!! I don't get shipped eggs, but every car part we order, looks like they played soccer with it. I think if you make a big enough fuss about it, they should straighten up. Or... Ship through UPS, they always seem to have their stuff together. (not cheap tho)
