April Hatch Challenge....

hi. I'm new to the farm, this is my first posting. I have already hatched 105 babies since the first of march and will have 160 more hatching by next weekend. I am hatching rhode island reds, cukoo marans, and black australorps. I really enjoy hatching babies. I am getting ready to start hatching turkeys and ring necked pheasants. I will keep you posted on hatching ratios.

Hi.. I have 6 BLRW's i got from Bishopschickens sitting under a first time broody silky, and it' my first time too!! Talk about taking chances, right? Oh well. I'm thinking about not candleing . I'm afraid I might jinx them, if I don't touch them or her it just might work out. They are due April 6 or 7.

My first ever hatch is scheduled to hatch the 5th. I have 4 black silkies, 4 white silkies, and 16 buff and partridge mix silkies. So far after the day 7 mark we have candled 16 and 15 are good. When I candled on day 3 none of the white ones had done anything, tommorrow is when I will candle those to see if there was a change.

I currently have 92 chicken eggs and 50 mallard duck eggs. All of the duck eggs that are over 7 days old have growth, and all of the chicken eggs I can see through (I have some really thick shelled EE and some dark cukoo marans eggs in there too) have growth in them. I have two incubators with turners (chicken eggs) and I'm hand turning around 15 chicken eggs and the duck eggs in seperate incubators. I have hatches all the way from 4/1 until 4/22 so far!

Looking forward to hearing about others hatches!

Edited because it's hard to type while you're holding a lame 5 week old chick!

I have 21 set and due to hatch on April 11. Is it Easter in the States on April 12th? I'm from Canada that's why I ask such a stupid question. I set them on March 21st so I would get Easter chicks.

I am HORRIBLE at waiting so I just HAD to candle a couple last night. It was dark, there was a flashlight laying around, what's a girl to do?

I have 5 showing excellent progress

Oh no....chicks in time for Easter! LOL

I guess I could drop a couple of Silkies off over at my neighbor's house. I'm sure she'd LOVE one! LOL

Still have 4 under there today. She hasn't kicked anymore out.

I have 32 BR, 12 EE, 2 silkie green egg layer, 5 silkie, 5 frizzle and 3 Americana due to hatch the 10th and 14 C maran and 6 Wy. mix due to hatch on the 13. I candled a few of the silkie frizzle and BR eggs yesterday and all were doing great lots of veins.

Update on mine

I have now candled all of them out of 24, 5 are not fertile. The rest are all doing great, some look like they are growing alittle slower than the others though.
