If it's OK to jump in, have a batch due on the 18th, more or less, just candled a few & saw veins, these are all shipped eggs except for 2 of my own to test, so feeling hopeful!!!

It really dosn't matter, if the kids don't see them come out just tell them you did and this one is yours and that one is theirs, they will love them all the same !!

So far nothing today either,

I had 2 early hatchers... and 2 who seems to be doing nothing. I held both eggs up to me ear this morning just to make sure (yes, i got pecked for touching them) and I heard nothing. Its making me kinda sad.

You've never met my kids.

I would tell them this chick came from the green egg and then the chick would grow up and the kids would identify it as a type of chicken that couldn't have come from a green egg ....

I thought about putting the eggs in , telling them it takes 24 hours or so for the little buggers to climb out, so they need to peek through the window and identify thier own... then it's up to them to figure it out.

I also thought about just making them all mine,

problem solved.

I heard a couple of my eggs talking! peep peep peep peep peep.... Due to start hatching today. I had them in carton bottoms, but with 2 cartons, plus two little containers of wet sponge, and the ig bulky thermometer, and the hygrometer, (in an LG) there wasn't any room left for chicks. And I was afraid they'd stand on top of a carton and get burned on the heating element. I took them out of the cartons, and laid the eggs down on the screen. I have a sheet of no-slip rubbery mesh shelf liner under them, too.

My other 2 eggs I have given up hope on as of today. They however are still sitting on them. I have eggs coming in the mail soon, so I'm going to let my second broody sit as long as she wants on these and trade them with the new eggs when they come.

Then I'm going to open these eggs because curiousity makes me want to know what happened this time. Last time it was egg eaters!!!

My 2 little fuzzy butts are the cutest ever... I hate to see them go, but I am actually going to get rid of all my black silkies in general. I took thier mamas because they were in a bad situation and I wanted to give them a better home.

I wonder if I can get a good price on the BEST broody hens ever... only seem to lay for 2 weeks and back to broody like a charm!

I'm sure you could get a decent price on craigslist. Put in thead that they aren't great layers but will hatch anything for them, I bet you get all kinds of responses.

Mine don't show any sign of pipping yet, no peeps when I checked just now, they may all be asleep. I'm a little worried about my humidity. It's at 60%, I hope that's high enough. I have 2 pretty good size wet sponges in there, I don't really have space for more.
