I candled my eggs last night which was day 7, and out of 38 I have 30 that are developing. Some were infertile and a couple were quiters! My temps and humidity are staying steady also! Keeping my fingers crossed that all 30 hatches!!!!! And sending good vibes to everyone else with impending hatches!!!

Yep sounds like my still air incubator!!!!! like hitting your head against a brick wall haha.... Ive just basically given up all hope for the eggs in there....I have 2 thermometers in there and one in a water dish and an aerator from my fish tank to give some air movement..... sometimes both dry airs are the same, and sometimes way off... their new thing is for both dry air to be at 104-105 and the water dish to be at 95.5.... all day yesterday

(it has a high and low feature and it low was 94.5 and its high was 98.5) what the C***! and then this morning the water dish was at 84!!!!!! and the air was at 102... can I say stupid on this forum???? if not Ill edit it out later
Yea, so anyways they need an icon for sitting on your hands

... or just helplessly staring into the bador! Which my Hubby cannot figure out for the life of him what I KEEP doing in here just hovering...wanting to touch, adjust, candle, but instead I pace and look, pace and look, pace and look... Hey there is another great icon idea

So far, I have been a good girl and haven't touched the eggs yet. Sending out lots of good vibes though. I will candle on Sunday night, day 9, and see what is going on. Temps steady, added water a couple of times, hoping to see some action on Sunday. Kids are racing that day and so it could be Monday I guess before I get around to it actually.....

I am so with you on that one! I'm working with the farm innovations still air $45 shipped from amazon. What I saved in cash I pay with stress. I have 3 thermometers and two hygrometers. And a multitude of different readings from them. I just keep ratating egg placements to off set any issues due to heat varience. I'm cautiously optimistic after candling tonight though! (8 of 14 may just hatch) Good luck!!!

Ain't that the truth! The money-saving is NOT worth the additional stress. This is supposed to be FUN! I am definitely keeping an eye out for something with more bells and whistles. I've been rotating mine also around to varying placements. Keeping my fingers crossed for sure. I had a delayed shipment of a dozen Polish, so will have to interrupt the whole process to put those in tomorrow. Which means once again the heat will go whacky on me. Grrrr.

Sounding sooooo familiar. I've pretty much given up hope, too, and its only day 4. Nothing could possibly survive these huge swings in temperature. I'll candle on Monday or Tuesday when my new candler arrives, but I won't be surprised if I see veining on zero eggs.

I'm not giving up, though. Already checking out ebay auctions for future bidding, just in case.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have half a mind just to leave the whole shebang alone until Day 18. If I smell something nasty I'll take a peak. I may start operating under the "A Watched Pot Never Boils" theory.

It doesn't give one a warm and fuzzy feeling when you buy a thermometer from an incubator company and it says "For best results please calibrate with a thermometer you know to be accurate" ON THE THERMOMETER

Use a medical thermometer, one that is used orally or rectally, to calibrate your other therms. Get water as close to 100 degrees as you can, measure the temp with the medical therm and the other therm at the same time. Done

Laughed pretty hard at this. I bet if we find one and suggest it to admin, they'd be happy to add it to the smiley list for us.

Mine (hubby) has started to say, 'dun dun DAH!' for suspense every time I stand up and make the official sounding announcement that I must go fiddle with the eggs.
