April Hatch Thread--Come Join Us!

My first incubating experience:

8 BLRW bantam eggs to hatch April 1st
Broody hen has 4 mandarin duck eggs to hatch April 3rd

Waiting is a killer! :)

I just set 15 cream legbar eggs in the bator..maybe 30minutes ago?
These will be my first "shipped" hatch attempt. Worried is me! these eggs were to be overnighted on Monday. They arrived this morning. 1 full day late. the weather in Missouri is unseasonably cool lately. Sure hope it didn't hurt them any.

Did you let the eggs come to room temp before you set them? For shipped eggs I have found that not turning them for the first 5-7 days that they are in the incubator has helped my development rate tremendously.

Although I already have a thread for my hatch, I will join this one, my hatch day is April Fool's Day!!! It's my first hatch. As of right now I have 10 of 16 confirmed alive and growing and today is day 10 :) :)

I would like to join! I have my bator warming up and getting ready for my eggs. I am going to set a total of 40 I should have that many by tonight or tomorrow, just depends on how good my girls lay today!!! I hope today is a really good day so maybe I can set them tonight! This will be my second hatch. My first turned out way better than I couldve imagined. I set 25 eggs, 22 went into lockdown, and I had 21 hatch!!! I was so excited!!! Can't wait for this one!

I did give them a couple hours to warm up to room temp before I put them in the incubator. It just seemed right to me.
Hopefully I gave them long enough.
I did Turn them last night. Now your making me think about that.
My first inclination was that they needed to "settle" after the shipping, so I might let it go today.
I sure hope I get some babies!

How fun!

I'll join in, I have 12 Faverolle eggs, 9 Swedish FLowering hens and 12 Bresse eggs that arrived yesterday afternoon. They went into the incubator after they came up to room temperature last night. So far, temps and humidity are good. It is always so exciting waiting for eggs to hatch.

Laura
Do you turn yours? have you incubated shipped eggs before?
I so want this to go well, but being a first timer I will sure take all the advice I can get.
mine only sat out for a couple hours but they were not all that cool to the touch when I opened them.
I turned late last night, but I haven't touched them today yet.

I get all stressed out when I am incubating. It's like waiting to be a chickie momma!
