I've got 14 Eng Lav Orp chicks about 3 mo old now- WOW do they grow quick & beautiful! Good luck on your hatch, you will love them

Wow... how do I always miss these new month threads? LOL.

Please excuse me while I skip past the first 22 pages. Good luck to all who have set for this month's hatch-a-long.

I had 8 out of 8 chicks hatch from the March/Easter hatch!! They're currently in my brooder and looking ADORABLE! I'm very happy with my EE/Brahma cross chicks. Looks like I have a very good chance at getting my hen with muff/beard, feathered feet, and laying green eggs. So happy about that.

For this month's hatch:

I set 8 silkie eggs under my broody hen yesterday. Plus I'm expecting a shipment of olive eggers this week and will hopefully set them in my brinsea this weekend.
Hey Maah!!! LOL I missed it too. Went to March hatch thread and everyone was gone- so I had to start hunting around. Happy you found it!

My rescue mallards are hatching...5 out, 1 to go. I pulled these eggs from the nest cause a dog kept snacking on them. I wasn't sure how far along they were but Friday I could hear them tapping, Saturday thru Sunday pips, 3 were out overnight and 2 more since I came to work. Maybe last one by the time I get home!

Congrats on the pips and hatching, for those lucky enough to be that far along already. Pictures. Please don't forget pictures.

Did my 10 day weigh-in a couple days ago, and all are still progressing as they should. Candled and pulled a couple more blood rings, as well as a few that obviously were not developing. Those few I'm still on the fence about, I left in.

Got my coolerbator up and running, and have the humidity all dialed in. Good thing, have about 2 dozen more eggs coming this week. Woops.

Been out working on the coop, now that the brooder is just about done. I've been really inspired by the coop picture of the week on the main site and am doing something very similar. All I need for the brooder is a lid and just have to pick up some more netting to do so. The brooder area is 4x8, covered in coroplast on the inside so it's easy to wipe down and clean. It can be divided for two separate areas, or one large area. I'll post a shot or two on the post pics of your brooder thread soon. Anyone brood on sand? Seems like it might be the way to go, for me. I'd also provide the chicks with a bin for shavings and another for dirt to dustbathe and play in.

We have 3 healthy chicks this morning! Waiting on 2 more. I have a staggered hatch because I didn't have a big enough incubator! Boy was I foolish on thinking I wouldn't need a bigger one lol:) So 3 more going into lockdown tonight. I originally got 16 BLRW shipped to me (4 extra than the 12 I ordered so you see why I needed another bator) 9 made it but one quit this past week. Now hoping I get 8 to hatch which I think is a good % beings they are shipped!
