I've just got silkies. I started with 10 shipped eggs and I'm down to 4. That's ok with me. I'm just hatching this one time for fun. I'm new to chickens so this is all a learning experience.

Mine are shipped as well (have 9 of 14 left), I am homeschooling my children, so this is a project for Biology. I had a crazy heat spike overnight, but I think maybe the digital therm. is just unhappy in continuously hot moist conditions. The other therm.s are reading lower by 2*. I candled 2 eggs today because I was freaked out that they were killed by the heat. My oldest daughter is just in awe of the idea of being a chick-mama so, I hope someone hatches! I went ahead and ordered a second clutch of eggs just in case. I have been researching every element of these critters, I see how people get hooked on the adrenaline ride of hatching eggs! It is quite stressful really!

Hummmm...... one of them is flipping over backwards, he is righting himself but is sitting with his head very far back..... should I be worried???? do anything to help???

i have 10 eggs 3 silkie eggs dont no the rest in my brinsea eco glow incubator but one of the normal big eggs were cracked and and a silkie egg was infertile its only 8 more days till hatch now and one of the silkie eggs most have died becouse it just stopped developing should i take it out of leave it in just to be sure.

If your going to candle for a last time at day 18 before lockdown then i would leave it until then if your unsure and if the egg isn't dark except for the air cell get rid of it in case it explodes, as for the cracked egg if that happens and its a small crack you can put nail polish or wax over it before you put it in the bator, people have successfully hatched some of these

I love this one's little brown cheeks! Out of my RIR hen by a BR roo

This little cochin is sooo sweet! the picture it looks more buff, but in person has more silver/blue?? we will see what color she ends up, came from a mixed flock.

Another BR out of one of my RIR hens I have 7 hatched and two working their way out!
