April Hatch Thread--Come Join Us!

Wouldnt that be too much humidity for the eggs? With the shower on?

I would like to know as this is also my first hatch
I only had it on for 5 minutes to compensate for the loss of humidity when I opened the lid. I kept a keen eye on the hygrometer and it never went low or high. No condensation built up on the windows, so I think it should be fine. Good question, though.

I was talking to my oldest son on the phone last night.
He starts asking if I could make any money off my birds...to buy them food with
Then he says..." Mom...I don't know anyone else who raisies chickens in their backyard...
just for the sake of having chickens in their backyard!"
My reply.... of course...

i still only have one chick...when should the others hatch? are they maybe shrink wrapped in the egg? do i need to maybe help them? i really dont want this chick to be by itself forever

today marks 18 days for half the eggs and 17 days for the other half . temp is 99.5-100 and humidity is 75%

also these are button quail eggs not chicken eggs

i'm waiting for them as paitently as i can and a couple people have said that shipped eggs can cant a couple extra days but i'm worried

someone local said the one a couple eggs i should open the big end where the air sack is and see if there are live moving breathing chicks in there but i dont think i should do that

please help! i'm probably worrying for nothing but i dont want this one chick to be alone anymore

I believe button quail can take up to 22 days to hatch. So sit on your hands for a couple more days. And don't open the bator.

If he only knew. I explained this subject to my oldest son several weeks ago. I pointed out that my husband's boat cost a whole lot more money than my chickens ... and the boat definitely did not make us any money! The boat was, and the chickens are, great stress relief ... which is PRICELESS!

I would post on the quail forum as well if there are issues... Forum>Other BackYard Poultry>Quail There are some very experienced quail breeders that can help.
