OK here goes - feedback for all those who were waiting on Eggtopsy of the 4 ????????? Wannabe Rare Dorkings, so rare they were Blue?

Here goes.
I had my money on having;
one early quitter
(Wax egg) later quitter about 14-16 days.
and two fully formed none hatched chicks.

You all wanna know what was in those eggs??? Well firstly when we opened them there was:

What was in there??????


NO LIZARDS!!!!
Nothing! That is what guys, NOTHING!!!!!! NO shrink wrap chicks, no half grown chicks - zilch!!!!!!! Infact the eggs still had yellow yulk in them so I guess as well as being the wrong colour, wrong breed and deffinately in a bad shape. They probably were not fertilized either !!!!

Not a sign of life ever having been there at all. One did have a splash of what may have been blood but my chickens sometimes have blood in their eggs anyway...............

It was always domed!!!!!! NO CHICKS FOLKS NONE AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!Empty eggs and Now empty Bator indeed as it is now off.

Oes - that is about all I think as April is now fast turning into MAY ! So hope to see you all again in another hatch along!

Did you not candle them at all?

Yes we candled the waxed egg at 14 days. It really did look like a live chick inside and that is why we waxed it - lol

It honestly did look exactly how it does on the candling thread on the 14 day pic! Isn;t that funny nothing in them not a thing and yet two seemed to get heavy over the days. Oh well at least we can laugh over it. I really don;t think they were ever going to turn into a chick!

That is just crazy! Well I had a 0% hatch rate on my eggs as well, a couple early quitters and 5 beautiful babies that I believe I killed on day 19 with a heat spike overnight. Sooooo sad but, not much I can do except move over to the May thread after a few adjustments to the incubator. Good Luck on the next try!

I'm on day four and I doubt I'll get one chick out of the four turkey and 6 BLRW eggs I set about 4 days ago.
They were In Really rough shape when they got here and the post office may or may not have froze them :/

Hi everyone my school is hatching japanese bantams and i really need help on step to step hatching this is my first hatch ever and im in charge of the hatching to make sure things go smmoothly. The incubator is a
HovaBator Genesis Egg Incubator 1588 & Turner

I got the eggs shipped to day and opened everything then i put each egg back into their carton(normal egg carton) That was given and put the pointy tip down and fat end up should i leave it like this for 24 hours or shold i turn it.and how should i get the incubator ready temp humidity and so forth.

Okay, Update to the pending 2 chicks that were in my bator and for all the avise about leaving them in there for another day.

Me and the soon to be wife went to the beach today to shop and go to the pet store and buy some hydrometers. as I don't like the one I have. Pet smart had a close out on them. the last remaining two had a hydrometer and thermo for $3:47 each so I bought the last two. We got home and just as I walked in to check on the babies one jumped into the tall jar in the bator for humitiy, yes you read right into the water she/he went. well that did it for me out of the bator they came. Into the waiting brooder for them and both thermo's into the bator at the same time with the dydrometers. Added some warm water to bring humitity back up. Hydros leveled off at about 75% or just alittle less, HOW EVER HERE IS THE KICKER.... the thermo that came with the bator (I know now never trust one thermo) read 104 after I closed everything back up. The ones I bought one being in the brooder and added the other to the bator read 98 degrees.

So now gets intresting. Two hatched the other 39 did not as yet! still have them in the bator the newbies are in the brooder temp on the new thremo's are at 99 and the one that came with the bator is sitting at 103. So were the two that hatched my good healthy won't quit and I will live through anything, and are the rest of the eggs going to take say 24 - 26 days because temp was too low or are the other eggs now expired because the temp was too low.

If the the temp was too low I wonder why I got two to hatch, Like I said they are the Bruce Willis of the chickes evidently.

But I am now having doubts about the other 39....

Please more inputs would be great. Any advise is welcome... and once again thanks to all of those who have helped me already.

Oh and BTW I was looking back in the post's don't see the May hatch-a-long link could someone post it again please. TKS
