April Hatch Thread--Come Join Us!

well day 23 still no more pipps or peeps from the bator. and one of the two that did hatch died this morning. I had a feeling we were going to loose that one. Sounded to me like the (belly button) did not close. I could hear a small click if you can call it that when it breathed. I looked all over the web lastnight for a way to help it but could not find anything. Well now the brooder has one lonely chick in it but I will be working on another set this month for company.

. It's good that you got one chick out of it and I hope it goes better for you next time.

Hatch count so far this week, 4 Golden Laced Cochins, 4 Partridge Cochins, 2 Red Cochins, 1 White Cochin, 4 Phoenix, 4 D'anvers, 1 Welsummer and 1 Buckeye. Waiting on 10 more to hatch today!!

I ended up at 4 live april-hatchlings. They're brooded by two mother-hens. Haha. My chickens are so liberal.

The oldest two are almost a week old now. They're having some nice patterns showing up as their wingfeathers grow out, and I'm so excited to see what they're going to look like! They were an accident, a mix between my Bantam Kochin/Swedish black hen and my Buff Orp rooster. Unusual mix, haha.

Here's three of them - the one in the middle was the last one to hatch, on the left is nr 2 and nr 3 is on the right. The black adult hen is their biological mother of all of them.

Two little fuzzballs so far, a couple more look like they are going to make it. Next time I'm getting a circulation fan.
