I set 10 Black Bantam Cochin eggs from my show quality trio last night. They are in a 2362N Hova and should be due to hatch on 4/12.
Most of the eggs are a week old, so I only expect about three to hatch.
We put 7 eggs under our broody on Tuesday. Today my son, who is 5, collected the eggs. ALL the eggs.
ACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! I did NOT mark the eggs although I was planning on doing it today! He said that he did NOT get them out from under the broody. I believe him because she pecks and he does not reach under her. This means that she got OFF those eggs and went into another nest box without any eggs in it!
That chicken is CRAZY> She has been broody since last fall. Seriously almost all the time. We have broken her 3 times and it never works. She spends her whole life in the nest box. I actually put her tummy in the snow to try to stop her this winter. Now I give her eggs and she will not stay on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mine are due April 1st, this coming friday. On day 14, out of 40 eggs 38 are on their way. 12 Delawares, 9 Barred Rocks, 11 New Hampshire Reds and 6 Black Copper Marans. I'll try to post pics this week end.
As of candling day 8, 10 good eggs out of 13, at least I know the PO didnt shake them to bits, I drove to pick these up! It seems to take F O R E V E R.....
Candled eggs last night, looks like I have a few clear, one egg has a one very large vein, but it still looks alive.
Hopefully Lockedheart eggs will come in today, and goin to pick up Dom eggs this afternoon too.
4/9 eggs were still good at day 10. My 12 olive Blue/Splash Orp eggs from Lockedhearts came in today. Should be going to get Dom eggs tomorrow, today was a rainy mess.
Will be setting Orp eggs and 11 of mine plus 1 poss Turken egg, and the Doms should go in tomorrow night.
