Aquarists!

I have one saltwater tank up and running. It is 75 gallon with 65 lbs live rock. It houses a pair of Ocellaris clownfish, a Hippo Tang, a neon goby and a brittle star. My lighting isn't good enough for coral although for now I like it as a fish only AQ. I also have a 12 gallon NanoCube Deluxe that is empty at the moment. I'm thinking of eventually devoting it to coral.

I've been keeping fish most of my life. I currently have -

1 - 75 gallon West African Biotope tank, planted with various species of Anubias and 1 Synodontis angelicus catfish that I bought as a pup in 1992. I want to restock it with a large school of Congo tetras, once I can find a good source. Someday, I hope to find a nice pair of Nanochromis parilus like I used to have in the 90's.

1 - 55 gallon South American Community tank, with a pair of angels, some Rummy nose tetras, Columbian blue red finned tetras, 4 Corydoras schwartzi, and an albino longfinned Bristle-nosed pleco. (I usually go for fish with their natural, wild type coloration when doing a biotope tank, but I couldn't resist this guy!)

1 - 20 gallon goldfish tank, with 2 Orandas.

I used to have many, many more tanks, and was active with breeding a few species, but when I moved to Maine, I discovered that the laws are rather restrictive as to species here. As such, the aquarium stores mainly carry only bread and butter fish and there are no hobby groups as such. Shame really.
Fish I have bred in the past are Bristle-nosed plecos (Ancistrus sp.), Wrestling halfbeak (Dermogenys pusilla), Turquoise Rainbows (Melanotaenia lacustris), Bosemaini Rainbows (Melanotaenia boesemani), Aphyosemion gardneri, Neolamprologus brichardi "Daffodil", and Cherry barbs (Puntius titteya). I also used to breed Axolotls and Red-eyed treefrogs.

Wow. I agree with the natural bit. I prefer to set up tanks so they look like they're right out of the water system. Have you looked at That Fish Place's live assortments?

I've never bought fish online... yet! It may come to that though. That Fish Place has an excellent assortment and it does look like they sometimes carry Nanochromis species. I've actually bought fish from there before, on "side trips" while coming home from vacations. The Angelicus came from there when she was only about 2 inches long (she's now about 9 inches long). I got the albino Bristle nose from there this past May. They do a great job of bagging and adding oxygen to the bag if you tell them you have a long trip. I just worry about shipping because the weather up here is so variable. When we go to visit my family in Rochester NY, we may have to make another "side trip" to N. Tonowanda. There is an aquarium store there called "The Fish Place" (not to be confused with "That Fish Place"). This store has fish which I've only ever usually seen in books. Not only do they carry rare species, but their tanks are incredibly healthy and all done up naturally. No bare tanks causing the fish to all hide in a corner! They even have a 2000 gallon display tank that is big enough for a person to swim in. (Alas, I've never seen an invitation for this extended...) If you're ever up by Buffalo NY, this store is a must see!

That fish place packs the fish like they do for long trips, but they add a sedative and store the bags in a cooler marked fragile and live animals.

I haven't ordered fish from them, have ordered plants and a couple people I know have ordered fish form them. I love the place. Used to get catalogs all the time.

I have a 55 gallon mixed reef now. I m slowly replacing equipment for a 125 gallon. The old one developed a crack in a seam. I have a tank raised pair of true p. clowns, red sea purple tang, a damsel, polyps, cabbage leather, snails, and a gold banded shrimp. I hope to set up the 125 this spring. I want to put alot of live rock. I hope to keep a moorish idol after its up for 2 -3 years. Any body have any experience with idols?
Thanks
Danny

I've got a 130 gal salt water tank, that houses my 2 koi for the winter. They go out in my 200 gal pond for the summer. I usually buy a bunch of feeder gold fish to keep the tank active in summer, and then the Koi eat the feeder fish when I put them back in the tank for the winter. When these fish die (and I don't think they ever will, lol) I'll convert it over to a salt water set up.

I have a 50 gallon tank with fancy goldfish.. I have had fish almost my whole life. When I get the space again I will set up all of the empty tanks I have in the back..

Hey do any of you breed fish and ship them. Im looking for a bunch of bristlenose fry your young.
