Aquired these today, breed??

went & got a pool last night... muddy?

Ducks scoop food, mud, etc. into their mouths and then scoop water into their mouths. This will make your water bowls filthy within seconds and your pools filthy within minutes. If they find a wet spot in your yard it will become a mud hole pretty fast. Any grass in their run probably won't last long.
Ducks are little pigggies. They LOVE mud and making muddy messes.

You don't need a male duck to get eggs. You only need the male to fertilize the eggs. Females will lay eggs without having a male around. This applies to all birds.

I aquired these 6 ducks from a friend before they lost their lives...
I’m a chicken person & know nothing about ducks

Wondering what breed, gender & any other advice would be appreciated

I would guess Cayuga for the black one and maybe rouen for the others ?

And that's an understatement! Think of having six stereo-typical eight-year-old boys (or five and my daughter!) playing in a mud puddle out back ... that's the sort of mess ducks make on a regular basis.
Is it messy?
Oh, yeah!
Is it worth the mess to watch their antics as they do their thing in the muddy water?
