Araucana Ameraucana strain

10/4 on the EEs. So those do lay several different color eggs then right? My daughter will like that. Thanks to everyone for the info.

Yes, each EE will lay its own color and the eggs can be blue, olive, green, biege, or sometimes even pale pink or gold. The pink eggs are my grandaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorites.

Ameraucana is a cross between a Araucana and something else. EE's are a cross between an Ameraucana and something else. I have read that the feed stores sell EE's but call them Ameraucana's,  it appears that is correct.  Hope this helps. You should get colored eggs of some kind.

Sorry, but this is incorrect.

Actually, Ameraucana is a breed , just as Araucana, New Hampshire and Leghorn are.

EE's are cross breeds, often originating from Araucanas or Ameraucanas, often laying blue or green eggs, and may or may not have muffs.

I think they were referring to the term, "Americana" chicken which is a cross bred chicken and is also referred to as a Easter Egger.

There is no such thing as an Americana. It is simply a mis-spelling of Ameraucana.
No, not so.

The word, "Americana" is used by some hatcheries and the bird is a Easter Egger...
Saying, " there is no such thing as an Americana" is like saying there is no such thing as a Easter Egger. Just because you never herd of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

We were at a resteraunt that advertised "Snow's Walleye" for a suspiciously low price. When we asked exactly what it was, they said it was Cod - but served at Snow's. Just like Walleye! . we told them what we thought of their scam, and have not gone back - wonder what their"hamburger" is !

Americana is a label that hatcheries use so they can skate around false advertising (fraud). Easter eggers are just that, Easter eggers. They are not Americanas, there is no such thing.
I understand what a Americana and what a Easter Egger is.
In all truth they are the same thing. They are chicken that carries the blue egg gene that does meet a set breed description.

If hatcheries were trying to skate around false advertising they would be making up names for all the cross bred chickens they sell. Looks at the "Rhode Island Reds", "Rhode Island Whites" or even the "Barred Plymouth Rock" they are all infused with Mediterranean blood just like every other Large Fowl breed hatcheries sell.
