That is HORRIBLE!Dirty, cramped, 1 window stall, dusty, & fed literal garbage.
Aww what a sweetheart! The first week I had my rescued Frizzle Bantam hen I had fallen asleep on the couch with her and she snuggled up with me. Chickens are much smarter than people give them credit for.I had to assist in TWO hatches today. The first one was so stressful. The chick is okay, though. The membrane had started to shrink wrap around it. The second assist I thought went easier, but that chick doesn't look too good. Fingers crossed he/she will be okay.
This may sound crazy, but the first chick I assisted acts like it knows what I did. It stared at me and followed me around the incubator window, and I just put it in the brooder and its trying to come through the bars to get to me. He/she lets me rub her chest. Its a blue from Buck and BB.
As idyllic as that seems the reality will be dusty and stinky.I'm having visions of him/her being a house chicken!
That is true!As idyllic as that seems the reality will be dusty and stinky. My Araucana pullets lived in my bedroom for like 2 months. Not fun I tell you not fun.
