Araucana thread anyone?

Why is there red in SDW?
Its "salmon", and is on the breast of female duckwings and BB Reds. The males are black on the breast. Why it is there, I have no idea.
It's autosomal red. Non-sexlinked red. It's on gold duckwings as well, just is harder to see. A lot of the time it's bred out, but I don't know about araucanas.

Sorry I've been gone y'all.... one, I've had a lot going down, two... I haven't been getting notifications!
I think I'm going to have to sell two of my cockerels. They're all three fighting, and I know which one is my favorite: the clean mottled blue. He's very much a gentleman to the ladies, doesn't hop on when he's not invited, where the other two charge and pounce. Too bad, too, since he's the only clean faced out of the three. SIGH. I was hoping to be able to keep two. I may try to sell one, and keep two for a bit to see.
The first to go will be the blue paint with the partial tail. He's huge and pretty, and treating the girls (all three do) but he's one that charges them when the blue mottled's back is turned.

Good to have you back! @Brahma Chicken5000 wasn't getting notifications either; it started after the revamp of the website.
That's a shame your boys aren't getting along. I agree on selling one to see if it changes how the other two get along. You never know!

So... I am considering getting certified as a NPIP tester. Purdue University offers a weekend course for certification in April. I have had SO MANY problems with my county tester...she just simply doesn't want to test my birds. She is the county poultry 4-H leader, and I'm sure that is the only reason she got certified (to test the 4H birds). Since last June she has given me three lame excuses, and one flat out lie that I didn't have enough birds to test, so I emailed the state poultry board and asked for other contacts in surrounding counties and told them my problem. They did email me back with a list of three other testers, along with information for their certification program so I can test my own birds. I'd much rather do that anyway, so I can go my own pace and not have to round up and wrestle 30 birds to blood test in one day.

So, I may have to rethink some things. My poor brahma is a favorite of all the boys. The mottled blue with the gold leakage (Garrus) is the most gentlemanly about things, won't mount unless she lets him. The other two, the moment they see her, bum rush her and force her to the ground. The blue cuckoo at least, she rejects his sperm. I saw it myself. A genetic 'So There'. LOL but now I'm not sure which of the two lighter blues I should get rid of first.
The blue paint is a lovely big bird (I wish his tufts would grow in, I think they were plucked) but he's got a partial tail. The blue cuckoo is the smallest of the lot, but seems pretty mean about things and does have sparse double tufts as well.
I know I want to keep Garrus... I mean, I don't have the set up to breed true araucana right now since I have a mix of colors and a mix of breeds... I need a nice sunny day to get some good pics.

If you can separate the two rowdy boys until they mature a little more you can decide if you want to sell them in the spring.
