Araucana thread anyone?

Anyone have any photos of these birds? Sounds super cool...... I'd love to see this color variety. Your chicks are beautiful!
I just ran a second batch of my banty Araucana eggs and once again, not a single one is fertile. ?????? I know there are fertility issues with the breed, but I don't know any of the specifics. Anyone have details for me?

I know what you mean I have set 3 clutches of eggs (two from skyblue egg & one from Gypsychick) only one had hatches (3 from Gypsychick), but I still have one more batch of skyblue eggs coming I think?

What I did do is go on eggbid and pick up two of skyblueegg pullets and they are very nice (I think). Also got some standard chicks from chicken scratch poultry. The postman proceeded to lose them for 4 days . As you could imagine there where lots of casualties but Larry over at Chicken Scratch was very nice and understanding so there I currently more chicks in the mail to complete the order. I posted some pic’s

Yes as you may have suspected I am not a photographer by trade.

The first 3 are the bantams from Gypsychick who’s pics I have posted before. Notice the comb on the white cockerel? I was wondering if this is common occurance?

I finally got a clue to why I haven't seen any eggs from my araucana hen. I went in early to collect eggs for a neighbor yesterday, and found the remnants of a colored egg in one of the nest boxes. There are all brown & white layers in the coop with her. I think she's eating them as soon as she lays. If it was somebody else- I'd be short on the other eggs.

Wow. That coloring is quite something. So dramatic. It would be fun to see progression photos of your chicks that you think are this type as they feather in. Gosh that's pretty! At first I wasn't sure if I liked the coloring or not, but each time I come back to the picture, it's just so....... eye catching, complicated and detailed. Yup, definitely lovely. Thanks for posting the photo.

Oh my, that chick second to last! Look at those tuffts!! Beautiful! I'm glad that you are managing to gather the birds that you want, despite all the complications. It seems that Araucanas are just so much harder to come by than any other breed (that I've tried to get, at least). Your chicks are looking wonderful. Quite a flock you've got going there. I've given up entirely on buying banty Araucana hatching eggs - they just were not developing for me. I have an order of chicks from skyblueegg due sometime in April (I think). I can't wait. I will absolutely explode if the PO looses them!!!!!

I really really hope you have a great hatch out of this next batch of eggs coming from skyblueegg

I see the Anatolian Shepherd in your photo and so I have to go on a major aside here...... We have two Anatolian puppies on the way to our place - a brother and sister, five months old. I can't wait!!!! My parents are coming out for a visit next week and they are picking them up for us on the way out. Two days driving with two completely untrained gigantic (50 pound) puppies in their brand new car. I am going to owe them big time for this one.....

That sounds great. Where are you getting yours from? I have one buff bantam araucana about 1 month old. I think is a male, but not 100% sure.

I would like to get more buffs, but since I only have one, I'm not sure which color to choose to mate this male to get more and/or better buffs. Any suggestion?

I have a order of chicks coming from skybluegg in April also...I'm so eggcited!!!

I was going to have an order in for May, but I'm afraid I'll be so caught up in chickens I may just not. . . Although I'm certain I'll be looking for an extra cockerel in a couple months.
