Are you hatching from your own eggs?

Ann, i seen that article to. I'm sure it does and can play a big role in it along with diet, probably even with fertility as well...makes me feel good that my chickens have a pretty good life being able to free range at will and have lots and lots of sun when it is out..

Who'd you get your stock from?

One thing I must say is that probably won't go through too well, just to let you know. Eggs are already really hard to get good rates from with Araucanas when shipped, and I don't think hatching eggs do well when sold by hatcheries. (in terms of market) Kudos on actually having true Araucanas though!

So I finally got my own, and have some questions on color. I got mine from Gary Ramey, and so naturally there will be some splashes, and I've even seen his odd blue laced-blue cuckoo splash looking girls (what in the world would you call it?) - But what are the chicks that I have?

These first two look like they're going to be that odd blue cuckoo splash color. . . Any ideas?

These next three are either BBR, or some sort of Duckwing. Can I possibly tell the difference? One is amazingly marked, another is more red, and another is much lighter and more silvery. Do I have one of each?

Blue / BBR cross?

And the last - I have a solid red one that is starting to feather out like a female BBR or something. .. What's this one?

Anyone have any photos of these birds? Sounds super cool...... I'd love to see this color variety. Your chicks are beautiful!
I just ran a second batch of my banty Araucana eggs and once again, not a single one is fertile. ?????? I know there are fertility issues with the breed, but I don't know any of the specifics. Anyone have details for me?

Here's an example of the odd blue cuckoo color I am talking about:

Gary Ramey describes this color as himself "working with barred coloring" - It is labelled as "Splash" when showed, and certainly isn't a true barring, but sure is pretty and indeed does need work to be called Cuckoo.
