Araucana thread anyone?

Very nice!! Can't wait to get big trays of eggs to go in the bator like that

Course, none will be a traditional brown though. . .

Bread and butter, Illia , bread and butter. Those traditional brown eggs are the bread and butter that pay for my exotic egg laying chicken obsession! The hard working RIRs and Sex-link gals absolutely sell like hot cakes and make up for the years of fertility issues and supply troubles I've faced in my quest for gloriously blue and mahogany colored eggs. They may be dull in comparison, but you won't find me knocking those workaholic angles.

Pssh, I guess I always think one can use a better layer flock.

My "layer" girls are poor quality Ameraucanas, poor egg color Marans, and extra Polish. I do of course also have brown egg layers (Jersey Giants) but they're going to be traded in for Polish soon. I'll have Brahmas to give me brown eggs in the future though.

That is very interesting, good luck. Does anyone else have a "PROJECT"? I'm thinking about starting my first, "WHITE SUMATRAS". I have some really dark gypsy faced Black Sumatras and thinking seriously about buying a White Yokohama cock.

Sorry about the "off topic" discussions, just curious.

Way to steal the thread

Well if we want to talk projects respectfully, I'm going to see how far I can take my gold duckwing columbian cockerels' columbian genes. . .

Hoping for at least some quail colored Araucanas. Other than that, there's the Cuckoos. . .

Outside respectable talk, . . . Not much "projects" other than improving certain colors of certain breeds.

i have a project in mind to play with in small numbers once i get my araucanas, thats the only reason i want the silver duckwings haha, otherwise i'm sticking with solid colors haha.

We're supposed to guess. Silver Duckwings, hmmmmm........

Hey, those 'historic' 70's araucana mags are way cool! I wonder if the ACA would be interested in copies of them for an archive? Off to upload some more photos to share.....

Ain't she cute? My solid black tailed and tufted pullet, she's a real sweetie too. Her personality matches her face.
