Araucana thread anyone?

Lanae, how did it arrive? Did your carrier bring it to your door or did you have to pick it up at the post office? STILL WAITING FOR MY COPY (couple months short of a year now).

Oh, Yeah, I'm happy for you that you got your copy and all that ...... No resentment at all over here in snowy Montana where something like a long awaited copy of the standard would really be a BOOST to a flagging, cold, tired poultry enthusiast...... hohum.....

OK, so seriously, I'm dying for my copy! I was wondering how many color varieties would be pictured. Sounds like not all of them in the Araucana, but it seems to be very difficult to come by photos of standard Araucanas. How well are the other more popular breeds represented?

Land sakes alive! I will stop my complaining as of this moment! We did look like that for a long while and this was our snowiest winter on record since the 1800's something, but we have melted and are seeing signs of spring about to make an appearance. Oh, dear woman, hang on - that cannot last forever. Spring WILL arrive.

Megan, I would contact them with your receipt. Mine came fast. It was in my mail box at the road today and I ordered last week. It is huge. There are only two color varieties illustrated. There are a ton of different colors in the game birds represented.

I needed the SOP for breeding and showing(always good to have)and I wanted to put the info in my book. It does have descriptions of all the large fowl colors that are in the standard which is nice, although it refers you to other breeds to describe plumage colors on both the male and female.

UM. you dont want to know. I will let you know as soon as I have more. I do have 1 alive and doing well. It has beautiful tufts, 1 back swept feather on each side that is about 1" long and it is 4 weeks old. I am hoping its not a boy. But if its a boy I do have a clean faced girl to pair it with.

I tried Ann, just couldn't keep the last one alive. It did great for a couple of days and then went fast. It was pretty aweful. Kermit is awesome and now I have ideas of new ways to start out chicks.

I want to get the bird food he makes but the shipping is so expensive. I am trying to convince my local feed store to start carrying it. There is no one on the west coast that has it. I think I will start out with his chick kibble.

Awe bummer, I had a feeling.... Keep up the good work anyway. I have tons of clean faced girls. I am planning to work on a group picture when I can finally seperate my breeding pens up. Lotta snow has to melt yet.

I'm trying to get my two breeder boys to get along 'better'. Covered their spurs with padding and vet wrap, they can (and have) duke it out with much less trauma and set a balance. Ungreatful brats just can't police themselves. Today is day two so I am hoping things are calmer around the coop.

Last weekend was my first not so great hatch this year. 5 out of 11 hatched. We had power go out a couple of days before hatch and temp dropped a bit. Out of the 6 that didn't hatch 3 of them were from Silver and Minnie. They would have been my first hatch from them. I had put them in with my black birchen roo with the ginormous tufts. I did get 3 chipmonks out of my ginger red pen and 1 lt blue, and 1 dark splash so I am still happy.
