My bantam hens are horrible layers. One hen literally lays an egg a month when she feels like it. The other one lays one every other day, then will go a week with nothing.
My large fowl girls are different. They lay an egg every day in the same place with no fuss. In fact I moved one of my splash hens to another pen, recently. She rooted around saw where everyone else was laying and laid an egg within a hour.
My three bantam girls are fantastic layers also. I was getting two to three eggs a day out of three hens until the one went broody on me. But like I said earlier, they go out of their way to hide the eggs, so that affect the efficiency factor some.
