Araucana thread anyone?

Why would anyone be banned from this forum? I don't mean anyone specifically, I just mean IN GENERAL, what would lead to someone being banned?

Hang around the forum long enough and you'll realize that there are a few people who cannot answer questions without adding insults. That's the only one that I have personally seen, but I know that if there are too many auctions closed by a person and the agreement is not kept on their part, that is another reason for banning.

I am not sure why someone would be banned, but I think someone can complain about your posts if they don't agree with your comments and that would lead you to get banned. I hear alot of negative comments about BYC because it is mostly populated by people that only have a few chickens but many ideas that they state as fact and they don't like people to disagree with them. I tend to try to stay on this thread because the people here really are interested in discussing this unique breed of chicken. I have noticed other threads that people get bent out of shape very quickly if someone has the nerve to have an opinion other than theirs. I think its sad and funny at the same time.

This is a thread that hasn't needed moderation and am thankful for it. Since Gary has breeds other than Araucana he may have made someone mad at another thread and was removed from the forum.

I have sent Gary several emails regarding buying chicks and I know Barb Ambhul has also with no reply, so I think it is more than not being able to get on BYC. I hope he is doing well and his chickens also.

MEGAN!, How are my birds. Have you hatched any chicks yet. Are they doing well?

Hi Lanae! I am SO far behind on this forum! It is just the crazy season in life right now, so I've not had the same amount of time to follow all the great Araucana progress. I really, really need to go back and study the wheaten chicks and your discussions about them because I am getting the coolest "wheaten" chicks out of my Aruacanas this year. I am getting blues and splashes as well, but until this last weekend all of the chicks who were tufted were single tufted on the right side of their heads..... everyone of them..... it was sort of bewildering. I was so happy to have that little splash chick pop out with two beautiful tufts!!!
I'm so excited to see what the wheaten-esk babies grow up to be because their father is the blue rooster so I'm hoping for some blue wheaten in there.
The Spring Fling is here in town next weekend - the judges are Gary Overton from Ohio and Jim Crain from Louisiana. I'm so excited! I'll be bringing my little bantam black Araucana to show.
Take care out there everyone - happy hatching!

This one's for you Lanae; Lushion lost his spur and bled non stop for a couple of hours before we took pity on him and plugged the "leak" My life must be lacking something because I get far and away too much giggle value out of the fact that he had to strut around with Dora bandages for a few days.

One of the hens you have is the mother of my wheaten roo and hen by a wheaten roo. That info about you getting wheatens actually helps me out here. Cool!

That really is awfully interesting - is certainly wasn't expecting them. I will post pictures soon. Not a single one of the wheaten chicks has had a tuft by the way......

Not the same thing but she is pretty anyway and will hopefully lay blue or green eggs for you.

The real Araucana can only be purchased from a breeder. The issues with fertility and the lethality of the tufting gene make them a non viable bird commercially, so hatcheries do not sell, them or even have them in their breeding pool.

Thanks! Next time I go back I will tell them!

Brace yourself my dear - it has been my repeated experience that the feed stores do NOT appreciate being educated on the matter. And it really isn't their fault..... I suppose...... It is the hatcheries who know full well that they are selling a mislabeled breed. But, it all comes down to the Standard of Perfection and per that book, the Araucana and the Ameraucana are two different breeds and what the vast majority of the hatcheries sell as an interchangeable combo of the two is in fact neither......
anyhow - your little chicks is BEAUTIFUL!! Looks fat and happy too

Enjoy her (as clearly you already are).
