Araucana thread anyone?

Oh, this is Josephine Jr.

And yep, she's a little more full than Josephine in body.

Don't worry I mistake them myself all the time. Although Josephine still has one amazing, unbeatable large tuft that makes a good sign of who's who.

I hope you find him. Sometimes they wander off looking for goodies and come home when it starts to get dark.

OK found him bloody, attacked, I have sulmet and VetRX in the house, too late to get anything else, what do I do?

Clean him up, Keep him warm and keep an eye on him. Thats about all yo can do. Maybe vitamins and electrolytes in his water.

He is seemingly unresponsive but it IS that time of night anyway. Found one wound, cleaned it, I could even pour hydrogen peroxide into it, seems like one leg doesn't work, he won't eat but like I said its roosting time anyway. OMG my kids are going to freak in the morning. This is a special one...

Keeping him warm is the big deal tonight. Put him in a dog crate with shaving and a heating pad on low under the shavings or a brooder lamp with a regular 60 wt light bulb in it, hung about 1' from him. He will snuggle up to it if need be.

I'm sorry but isn't that an Easter Egger? I see beard/muffs. Did you get it from a feedstore or hatchery? Very adorable regardless, but it looks like an Easter Egger not an Araucana. Araucanas rarely and preferably don't have tails, and never have beard/muffs.


Lanae, Wheatens don't have black on their backs, heads, and brown on the back.

I guess I was under the assumption they were the same thing. I purchased her at a feedstore because I fell in love with her as she was different from the others. The sign said Araucana and I was told they layed the 'Easter Eggs' when I asked.

For now, warm and quiet is the best thing for him. I'd not recommend hydrogen peroxide for cleaning the wounds. It can impede wound healing by destroying healthy tissues.
