Araucana thread anyone?

It's from Buck and Bluebell! :) I cheated... I was going to wait the full 10 days before checking but the suspense was killing me! I don't have as high of hopes for Mama and Manolito. Mano's pretty clumsy and doesn't seem to have very good balance. Hopefully it is something he will outgrow.

Yup.
Here’s a reference pic I saved from BYC.

last week my british araucana hen died. no idea why. I did a sort of necropsy and everything looked ok. she did have a few worms but not too many to kill her. the only thing that was strange was her heart. it was too small compared to the other internal organs. british araucanas are rare in greece and I cannot find another hen. I sent 8 eggs to a friend of mine and pray that some hatch.

on the other hand a friend of mine ordered 20 tufted rumpless araucana chicks for 3 of us. I will never ever keep just a pair of anything. 2 males and at least 4-5 females, just in case.

I am so sorry to hear that. :(

Does this mean the poor chick was technically aborted to confirm if it was Fertile?
You have to confirm fertility of new breeders somehow.
If you choose to look at it that way, chick abortions happen in frying pans every morning.

ETA I should add... Without that element of heat, there's no life. Its prepared for life, but not alive.
Could I argue that the motility of the sperm making its way to the ovum is a clear sign of life? And once it gets to the ovum it creates a new being and it's in stasis waiting to be awoken by heat?
