Yes, I have 5 inside (including Donald the mottled who isn't looking too good this evening ). I originally gave Bonita 3 chicks, but 2 died.

Bluebell has had conjugal visits with Cholo the past few days. I can't let her in with that flock full time because she is STILL feather picking. Not the layers, only Cholo. He tries to move away from her but she's gotten a few saddle feathers already. I have some pinless peepers on the way. If that doesn't work I don't know what to do with her.

Try increasing the amount of protein in her diet. If that doesn’t work then you should cull her. Feather picking is unacceptable and grounds for immediate culling in my book.

Honestly she couldn't get any more protein. She's on Flock Raiser and mealworms. Its pure habit I think. I can go up to her pen and stick my hand through to pet her and she will start pecking/pulling at my fingers like she does feathers. If the pinless peepers don't work I will probably give her away.

I went out to candle Lil Girl's 4 eggs last night, to find there were only 3 . One apparently broke and she must have eaten most of it. One of the eggs has alot of dried yolk on it, the other two just a few spots. I don't know what to do. The chicks inside are alive and kicking. I tried to flake of the gunk but its dried to the shell. I've read you cannot not get them wet... so...

Tracking this box with the babes in it, I know its in the state now... I'm so worried that somebody is going to get upset with the peeping and shake the box... I hope they arrive at the post office tonight!!! UGH!

easy to say.

sometimes they get bored and pick feathers for fun. they might need more space.
