Ugh, I am so disappointed. I just saw this in MJ's newly sprouted saddle feathers:

WTH?? Neither Manolito or Mama, or ANY of the other Araucanas for that matter have this red leakage!! What's really weird is how bright red it is. That photo is not enhanced.
Of all the cockerels it had to be him!

He may molt it our next year. I would hold on to him still.

He's losing a little, but still has more than Mano did at that age.

Here's my babies free ranging for the first time. It took them like 3 hours to be comfortable enough to actually walk out the open gate.

I haven't heard anything. I'm thinking about going back to Ann Horsman once we get a little further in to Sept, for the started ones.

please don't discard him. breed him to the darkest hens and be patient. breeding is an art and hard work. it takes years to get good results.

Oh I won't. I will be keeping him. I'm just more confused on where it came from. Neither of his parents or any other Araucanas from the breeder have that stray color in them. Or any leakage for that matter.

in breeding it is called atavistic return (if I remember well).
